Tube-Tech HLT 2A

TUBE-TECH HLT 2A Equaliser

The TUBE-TECH HLT 2A is a unique equaliser, blending high and low shelving EQ, high and low cut filters, and an innovative "tilt" midrange EQ. This is the first time such a filter combination has been created in the analogue domain.

TUBE-TECH HLT 2A Equaliser Details

The midrange T-Filter of the TUBE-TECH HLT 2A “tilts” the frequency spectrum around a selectable midrange point, boosting frequencies above and cutting those below, or vice versa. This innovative design offers an efficient and powerful approach to achieving smooth and musical equalisation. Its versatility makes the TUBE-TECH HLT-2A a valuable tool in high-end mastering studios, smaller project setups, and everything in between.

As with all TUBE-TECH processors, the stereo TUBE-TECH HLT-2A delivers warmth and character, bringing tracks to life with an organic quality that creates a sense of physical presence within a mix.

Uniquely positioned in the TUBE-TECH range and the world of analogue processing, the TUBE-TECH HLT-2A offers intuitive functionality with quick results, whether subtle or extreme. It excels on individual tracks, drum buses, and mix buses alike, making it a go-to equaliser for diverse applications.

The TUBE-TECH HLT 2A is a stereo unit featuring active low and high shelving EQ, a passive T-filter, and passive high/low cut filters. The shelving EQs are designed around a high-gain tube amplifier, while the T-filter and high/low filters are passive, positioned after the active shelving EQ and before the output amplifier. Each section has a dedicated bypass switch, and the unit includes an overall bypass switch.

The high and low-cut filters are passive with a 6 dB/octave slope. Activating the bypass removes the filter section from the amplifier circuit while retaining the output stage. The T-filter operates like a seesaw—boosting low frequencies attenuates high frequencies, and vice versa. Turning the potentiometer clockwise boosts the highs and reduces the lows; turning it counterclockwise does the reverse.

The unit is entirely tube-based, except for the power supply. It features fully floating transformers for the input and output, with stabilised DC voltages throughout, except for the anode voltage in the output stage.

The TUBE-TECH HLT 2A offers a fresh approach to EQ, delivering powerful tonal shaping with effortless operation. It provides exceptional results across a wide range of applications, from high-end mastering to project studios, thanks to its combination of high and low shelving filters and the unique T-filter for midrange control. This design enables a wealth of creative EQ possibilities.

Description:

  • TUBE-TECH HLT 2A: Stereo equaliser featuring low and high cut filters, low and high shelving filters, and a T-filter.
  • Shelving Filters: Designed around a high-gain tube amplifier.
  • T-Filter: Passive filter placed between the shelving filters and the output amplifier.
  • In/Out Switches: Provided for all three sections.
  • Cut Filters: Passive with a slope of 6 dB/octave.

Functionality:

  • Bypass: Switches the entire filter section out of the circuit while retaining the output stage.
  • T-Filter Operation: Functions like a seesaw; boosting lows attenuates highs and vice versa.
    • Clockwise: Boosts high frequencies and attenuates low frequencies.
    • Counter-Clockwise: Boosts low frequencies and attenuates high frequencies.

Design:

  • Fully tube-based construction, excluding the power supply.
  • Input and output utilise fully floating transformers.
  • Stabilised DC voltages, except for the anode voltage in the output stage.

The TUBE-TECH HLT 2A combines intuitive functionality with exceptional sound quality, making it a versatile tool for any audio application.
