Tascam DA-3000SD Master Recorder

The TASCAM DA-3000SD seamlessly blends a reference-grade master recorder with a high-quality AD converter, delivering precise, high-sample rate recordings. Built with premium components, the DA-3000SD upholds its reputation as the industry standard for professional master recording and top-tier AD/DA conversion, trusted by recording engineers worldwide.

Tascam DA-3000SD Master Recorder Details

Building on the legacy of its critically acclaimed predecessors, the Tascam DA-3000SD is an essential tool, combining a master recorder and professional-grade monitoring in a single, rack-mountable unit.

Simply bouncing a recording in a DAW can’t match the quality achieved with the Tascam DA-3000SD as a master recorder. When used for AD/DA conversion in a DAW production setup, it provides noise-free, superior monitoring, enhancing the clarity and depth of the audio, allowing it to truly shine.

The Tascam DA-3000SD supports audio capture at 192 kHz for PCM and at 2.8 and 5.6 MHz for DSD, offering the highest quality recording formats available commercially. Depending on the project requirements, users can choose the recording method that best suits the music’s characteristics and save their preferred settings. Multiple units can be synchronised for sample-accurate recording and playback, enabling the creation of a DSD multitrack recording environment. Recording directly to SD card media also simplifies the transportation and storage of sessions, making them easy to manage.

The power supply section of the Tascam DA-3000SD features an EI core transformer with separate windings for the digital and analogue circuits, ensuring optimal performance. The output audio circuit employs a dual monaural configuration with two high-quality mono circuits, delivering an exceptional sonic profile.

Additionally, all stages of the audio circuits are balanced to minimise noise on both input and output paths. The Tascam DA-3000SD is also equipped with a TCXO (temperature compensated crystal oscillator), providing a clock generator with an accuracy of +/- 1ppm, ensuring jitter-free digital audio processing.

The unit offers a wide range of input and output terminals, making it versatile for connecting to various studio equipment such as audio interfaces, microphone preamplifiers, dynamic processors, and more. Analogue I/O ports are available via XLR and RCA terminals, while PCM digital connectivity is supported through S/PDIF, RCA, coaxial, and AES/EBU connectors. For DSD digital connections, the unit utilises BNC SDIF-3 terminals.

The Tascam DA-3000SD is highly portable, fitting neatly into a 1U rack space, making it easy to transport between studios for detailed and reliable monitoring in any environment. Additionally, with its WORD clock capability, the unit can serve as a high-precision master clock generator or be synchronised with an external clocking device, ensuring musically accurate, pure phase-coherent audio.

By sending a stereo master from a DAW and recording it with the Tascam DA-3000SD, you can capture the master sound source at a higher resolution than what is achievable with a DAW bounce alone. To incorporate vintage or other outboard equipment during the mastering process, place the Tascam DA-3000SD in the signal chain after the external hardware to capture the audio coloration in its full, high-definition beauty.

Both recording and playback synchronisation are possible by cascading multiple Tascam DA-3000SD units, creating a DSD multitrack environment. By connecting eight Tascam DA-3000SDs, users can record up to 16 tracks simultaneously.
