The Tascam CG-1000 master clock generator is based on a high-precision OCXO – Oven Controlled Crystal Oscillator – with jitter management and glitch-free relocking for the best clock precision available.

The Tascam CG-1000 uses a high-precision OCXO (oven-controlled crystal oscillator) at the core of its internal clock, chosen for its exceptional accuracy and immunity to environmental temperature fluctuations. This oscillator achieves a clock frequency precision of ±0.01 ppm, outperforming standard TCXO units, and maintains word clock stability within ±0.005 ppm per day, making it ideal for high-precision synchronisation systems.

For even greater timing accuracy, the CG-1000 includes an external input that supports a 10MHz signal, allowing integration with a rubidium or GPS clock. This flexibility enables users to create even more precise synchronisation systems when needed.

The Tascam CG-1000 is equipped with 12 word clock outputs, along with 2 AES3/AES11 and 2 S/PDIF outputs, supporting a wide range of professional audio setups. Two of the word clock outputs also support 2×Fs, 4×Fs, and 256×Fs, making the unit fully compatible with DAWs like Pro Tools and suitable for large-scale audio synchronisation systems.

To ensure stable operation, the Tascam CG-1000 incorporates a jitter management circuit developed by TASCAM, using an FPGA and PLL circuit with a discrete filter. This design reduces external jitter and ensures a clean, stable clock signal to the outputs. Additionally, a glitch-free relocking circuit monitors the external reference clock and maintains clock phase during signal interruptions. If a dropout occurs, a substitute reference clock is automatically held to prevent any noise or skipping when the original clock signal returns.

The Tascam CG-1000 includes several features to support ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting. An analyser function allows users to measure input frequencies, while the word clock outputs can be adjusted to provide optimal signal levels to connected devices. A logging function records system behaviour and can export this data as a CSV file via USB for further analysis. For long-term accuracy, the unit also supports user-performed self-calibration using an external PPS-output 10MHz oscillator with GPS.

Durability has been a key focus in the design. The Tascam CG-1000 uses nut-coupling Amphenol BNC connectors that are highly resistant to pulling, twisting, and repeated use. Each connector is mounted on an individual circuit board to prevent mechanical failure and minimise interference between connections, ensuring long-term reliability in professional environments.
