The main thing that has made the Summit Audio TLA-100A an industry standard since its introduction in the mid-80s is that it’s one of the easiest compressors to use, allowing the focus to remain on the performance…not on the gear.
One of the main qualities that makes the Summit Audio TLA-100A so desirable is that it has the smooth program dependent sound of an optical compressor but is capable of the much faster attack times required for taming fast transients found in source material such as vocals, bass, and drums.
Each piece of Summit gear is meticulously crafted by hand in our shop using only the best quality components and attention to detail. Quality components and engineering know-how are the critical element to the sound and longevity of audio gear.

When you’re THE go-to lead vocal compressor for the late Al Schmidt, one of, if not THE greatest engineers/producers in music HISTORY – a man looked up to and revered by other generationally great engineers, mixers and producers like Bob Clearmountain, George Massenburg, Jack Joseph-Puig, Chris Lord-Alge, Joe Chiccarelli and many, many more – as well as a guy who was generally known as being AVERSE to compression and as someone who had access to literally ANY piece of recording studio gear in the world, that’s ALL the endorsement a piece of equipment needs. There’s really nothing more that needs to be said about it. It’s a fantastic piece of kit and I’m quite happy to have finally scored one. Now, I need a second!
