The Stam MEQP-1AS+ is a stereo, fully stepped 1:1 replica of the iconic Pultec EQP-1A, EQP-1A3-SS, and MEQ-5 equalizers, combining their features into a single 3U unit. It offers both tube and solid-state output stages, selectable via the faceplate, packing the EQP-1A, EQP-1A3-SS, MEQ-5, and MEQ-5-SS into one versatile device. The mid-band section from the MEQ-5 is included, providing both boost and cut options.
Following the retirement of the MK1 in 2019, this model was developed with custom-made input, inter-stage, and output transformers, as well as accurate inductors, to replicate the vintage Pultec sound faithfully. The Stam MEQP-1AS+ features four Sowter audio transformers, two Moby output transformers, two US-made “A” style transformers for the solid-state section, six tubes (including two 6X4 tubes for the power supply), and two SA-2520 op-amps. With eight transformers, six tubes, and four op-amps, it provides unparalleled sonic timbre and low-end accuracy.
Designed for modern workflows, the Stam MEQP-1AS+ offers stereo controls in a compact 3U faceplate, with all switches matched to 0.1% tolerance and tubes perfectly matched for flawless stereo operation. Fully stepped switches ensure precise adjustments and easy recall.
Built with premium components, including custom Sowter transformers, Carnhill inductors, NOS tubes, Corner Dubillier capacitors, and Allen Bradley carbon resistors, the Stam MEQP-1AS+ faithfully recreates the sonic character of the originals. Each unit is hand-assembled in Chile with meticulous attention to detail and undergoes a rigorous 72-hour burn-in process to ensure consistent performance and reliability.
