Grace Design m103 Channel Strip

The Grace Design m103 channel strip features the m101 mic preamp with ribbon mode, a three-band EQ for precise tonal shaping, and an optical compressor for smooth gain control. It includes a Hi-Z input, independent preamp and EQ/compressor access, and a link/sidechain input for external processing. Built for durability, it comes with a five-year transferable warranty.

Grace Design m103 Channel Strip Details

The Grace Design m103 is built around the proven m101 microphone preamplifier circuitry. For many engineers, the Grace Design m101 serves as an introduction to high-quality mic preamplification, offering a musical, transparent, and pure signal path. With ample headroom, exceptional detail, and outstanding clarity, it provides everything needed for a professional channel strip. Features include a dedicated ribbon mic mode, a 75Hz high-pass filter, and 48V phantom power.

The three-band EQ section utilises a single-stage parallel tuning architecture, minimising circuitry to ensure natural tonal shaping across the full 20Hz to 20kHz range. It features a fully parametric mid band, along with sweepable high and low bands that can be switched between shelving and peak modes. Thanks to the precision of this design, even subtle adjustments in cut or boost are highly effective, allowing for fine control over tone shaping.

The compressor circuit is based on an optical attenuator, the highest-fidelity gain control method available. It delivers everything from gentle limiting to more pronounced compression while remaining neutral and transparent, preserving the integrity of the original signal. This ensures a clean, intact, and lively output, ready for the next stage in the signal chain.

A 10-segment gain reduction and output meter provides clear visual feedback for monitoring compression and output levels. The front-panel Hi-Z input makes the Grace Design m103 an exceptional instrument preamp, while comprehensive I/O options allow independent access to the mic preamp and EQ/compressor sections. The signal chain order for the EQ and compressor is also switchable for added flexibility.

A dual-function link/sidechain input on the rear panel enables external sidechain processing for applications such as de-essing and ducking or linking two Grace Design m103 units for stereo compression. Designed for reliability, the m103 is built to withstand years of professional use and is backed by a five-year transferable warranty. A channel strip in name, but a powerful tool in practice, the Grace Design m103 is designed to bring professional-grade processing to any recording setup.
