Andrew Scheps

Andrew Scheps is a mixing engineer who has had a major impact on the music industry through his innovative mixing techniques and creative approach to sound engineering. Born in New York City, Scheps’ love for music began at a young age, and he started his career as a musician and sound engineer in local clubs and studios.

Scheps’ big breakthrough came when he was hired as an assistant engineer at the Power Station studio in New York City, where he had the opportunity to learn from renowned engineers such as Bob Clearmountain and Rich Costey. It was here that he began to develop his unique style of mixing, which involved incorporating elements of live sound engineering into studio recording sessions.

One of Andrew Scheps’ early successes was his work on the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ double album “Stadium Arcadium” in 2006. His approach to mixing the album helped to capture the raw energy and excitement of the band’s live performances, and it earned him critical acclaim as well as a Grammy Award for Best Rock Album.

Another major success for Scheps was his work on Adele’s 2011 album “21,” which went on to become one of the best-selling albums of all time. Scheps’ mixing on the album helped to create a sound that was both polished and intimate, perfectly capturing the emotional depth of Adele’s songwriting.

Andrew Scheps has also worked with a wide variety of other artists and genres throughout his career, including Metallica, Black Sabbath, Green Day, U2, and Jay-Z. His mixing style is characterized by a willingness to take risks and try unconventional approaches, often incorporating elements of live sound engineering and experimenting with unusual effects.

In addition to his work as a mixing engineer, Scheps has also been involved in the development of several innovative audio plugins and software tools for music production. These include the Scheps Omni Channel, which is designed to give users the flexibility of an analog console with the convenience of a digital plugin, and the Scheps Parallel Particles, which allows users to add unique textures and character to their mixes.

Andrew Scheps’ success as a mixing engineer has earned him multiple Grammy Awards and nominations, as well as a reputation as one of the most creative and innovative engineers in the industry. His work continues to inspire and influence a new generation of engineers, and he remains committed to pushing the boundaries of what is possible in music production.
