Cartec Audio

Cartec Audio is a recording equipment manufacturer, founded by Liam Carter in 2009. They take pride in making tools to impart a distinct tonal character, whether that’s from their unique valve compressor design, their discrete solid state preamps and EQs, or their entirely faithful recreation of the classic ‘Pultec’ EQP-1A equaliser. Every piece and process is made locally and assembled on a small scale by hand in Manchester, including their transformers, metalwork and NOS valves.

Released in 2013
The Cartec Audio THC (Tone Harmonic Compressor) is a two-channel hybrid compressor that employs eight tubes and four discrete amplifiers to achieve a unique level of control over dynamic range, harmonic distortion content, and tonal balance.
