Alesis

Alesis is an American audio equipment manufacturer founded in 1984 by Keith Barr in Hollywood, California. The company initially produced digital audio processors, including the Midiverb and the QuadraVerb, which were highly popular with musicians and recording engineers due to their affordability and versatility. In the 1990s, Alesis expanded into the production of digital audio workstations (DAWs) and drum machines, with the release of the ADAT digital recorder in 1991 and the SR-16 drum machine in 1990. The ADAT was a groundbreaking product, as it offered affordable multitrack digital recording to a wide range of musicians and producers. The SR-16, meanwhile, became one of the best-selling drum machines of all time, due to its high-quality sounds and easy-to-use interface. In the following years, Alesis continued to innovate and release new products, including MIDI controllers, synthesizers, amplifiers, and mixers. The company was acquired by Numark Industries in 2001, and later by in Music Brands in 2012. Today, Alesis remains a leading manufacturer of audio equipment, known for its high-quality products at affordable prices.
