Drawmer 1977 Channel Strip

If you’re looking to infuse your recordings with vintage charm and analogue musicality, the Drawmer 1977 is your perfect match. Think of it as the Swiss Army knife of channel strips - Drawmer’s most comprehensive and versatile tool to date.

Drawmer 1977 Channel Strip Details

The Drawmer 1977 offers the clarity of an ultra-clean preamplifier, the precision of a three-band parametric equaliser, and the silkiness of a soft knee compressor. Additionally, it allows you to dial in as much warmth as you desire through three types of variable harmonic saturation.

The pristine preamplifier of the Drawmer 1977 not only incorporates mic, line, and instrument D.I. inputs with 66dB of stepped gain, enabling you to make ultra-clean, transparent, and precise recordings, sweeten up dull audio, or perfect your guitar sound, but also offers mic matching via switched impedance to bring out the best in every mic in your studio. Whether using a high-end mic, ribbon mic, or even your dullest mic, you will be able to find its sweet spot.

The Drawmer 1977 incorporates a true ‘parametric’ equaliser inspired by 1970s-era analogue gear. It features three bands of fully variable frequency control, offering cut and boost of +/-12dB, and a fully variable bandwidth control for the mid band. This makes it incredibly versatile, capable of everything from subtle fine-tuning to tone-sculpting problematic recordings, and, of course, anything in between.

The engineer has control over the order of the signal path, allowing it to operate as either Gain-Equaliser-Compressor-Output or Gain-Compressor-Equaliser-Output, each configuration creating a distinctly different tonal quality and coloration.

The full-featured compressor allows you to control the dynamics of your recordings, while Drawmer’s trademark ‘Big’ and ‘Air’ modes help preserve the very deep lows and enhance the sparkling highs that lesser compressors often remove. Additionally, the compressor section includes variable harmonic saturation with a choice of three styles, enabling you to warm up your recordings with complete precision.

The output section includes a wet/dry mix for parallel processing, allowing you to easily dial in how much EQ, compression, and saturation is used with a single knob. It also features an output fade control for adding fade-outs or boosting the level to match high-end audio interface input levels, along with a large backlit VU meter for accurate monitoring. Additionally, a Preamp Direct switch bypasses the EQ, compressor, and saturation completely to provide an ultra-clean microphone output.

The result of all these features is a modern take on vintage gear, giving you incredible control over the clarity, tone, and warmth of your recordings, helping you capture perfect audio every time.

Features

  • Vintage inspired Channel Strip for the Modern Era.
  • A THAT Corporation ultra clean mic preamplifier with 66dB of gain with phantom power and switchable mic impedance for accurate mic matching.
