The Dangerous 2-BUS-XT is a 16-channel analogue summing mixer designed to expand your digital audio workstation’s capabilities with an expansive soundstage, ultra-high-resolution depth of field, and organic glue that brings tracks together naturally. Based on the six-layer summing circuitry of the 2-BUS+, it delivers exceptional headroom and introduces two new custom analogue colour circuits.
The first colour circuit, X-Former III, uses transformers specifically chosen to add tasteful amounts of second-order harmonics for lower midrange warmth while preserving clarity in the top end. The second circuit, Coherence, brings up harmonic content while levels are reduced, similar to parallel compression, allowing users to blend more detail and depth into their mixes. Each colour circuit can be assigned to channels 15-16 or the mix buss, and both include a true hard-wired bypass.
Unlike passive summing solutions that require excessive makeup gain, the active electronics of the Dangerous 2-Bus XT offer a huge, three-dimensional soundstage, holographic imaging, and an ultra-focused centre image. Panning is wide and precise, bass is tight and deep, and mids and highs remain clear and engaging.
Hand-built in the USA, the Dangerous 2-Bus XT uses active analogue summing circuits designed by Chris Muth. It features super-wide stereo imaging, massive headroom, and is expandable with other Dangerous Music summing products. It is housed in a compact 1U rackmount chassis.
