With its comprehensive signal metering, multiple balanced insert points, and an output mute switch, API TCS-II embodies the key features of a large console input channel, all condensed into a single rack space. It’s the ideal solution for those seeking the high-performance API console sound.
Crafted through meticulous engineering, API TCS-II encompasses everything necessary for audio signal recording. It kicks off with the renowned 512c Mic Preamplifier, offering the added advantage of switchable Mic, Line, or Instrument inputs. Next up is the 527A multi-mode Compressor, equipped with fully adjustable Threshold, Attack, Release, and Ratio controls on detented pots.
Enhanced by the patented THRUST® circuitry, the 527A injects your tracks with a powerful, upfront punch, a feature that has garnered it accolades. API TCS-II also features the iconic API EQ, the 550A three-band Equaliser, celebrated for its switchable frequencies and ±12dB of boost or cut.
The EQ’s High and Low frequency bands can be independently switched to function as shelving EQs, while the “B.P. Filter” switch inserts a 50Hz to 15KHz bandpass filter.
At the unit’s output sits the 325 Line Driver, directly sourced from API console designs, complete with an output level pot and a 10-segment meter. This meter can be toggled to display the preamp’s output level as well.
Each processing component of API TCS-II can be individually switched in or bypassed, with an internal flip switch allowing the compressor to be routed after the EQ if desired. Additional highlights include a sidechain input and the renowned API 2520/transformer combination.
