Acme Motown EQ

Acme Audio’s Motown equaliser faithfully reproduces a rare classic designed by Motown’s Chief Engineer Mike McLean. Featuring a transformer-balanced path and authentic components, it delivers the original’s legendary sound quality.

Acme Motown EQ Details

To continue the mission of faithfully recreating classic Motown audio equipment for modern recording studios, Acme Audio is proud to introduce the eagerly awaited Acme Motown EQ.

Revered by audio engineers and producers, only 48 original Motown equalisers were ever made, and it is regarded as one of Chief Engineer Mike McLean’s greatest achievements at Motown Studios.

Featuring a transformer-balanced audio path and a gain makeup amplifier section, this seven-band graphic equaliser represented a significant improvement over the equipment available during the Motown era.

Acme Audio had the privilege of collaborating with the late Mike McLean for several weeks to reverse engineer an original Motown equaliser, benefiting from his expertise to ensure a faithful recreation of this iconic piece of equipment. Every detail was meticulously considered, with no compromises made.

Every inductor, capacitor, and transformer in the Acme Motown EQ was either sourced from the original manufacturers or carefully reproduced to match the performance and sound quality of the original. This is, without doubt, the closest you can get to owning this essential piece of recording history.
