Radial Engineering Space Heater Summing Mixer

The Radial Engineering Space Heater is an 8-channel tube overdrive and summing mixer, designed to add analog warmth and saturation to recordings and mixes. Featuring adjustable voltage starve controls, dry/wet blend per channel, individual outputs, and a stereo summing bus, it delivers flexible tube-driven sound shaping and summing in a rugged 19" rackmount format.

Radial Engineering Space Heater Summing Mixer Details

The Radial Engineering Space Heater is an innovative 8-channel tube overdrive and summing mixer, designed to add natural warmth and character to audio signals. At the heart of the Space Heater is a 12AX7 vacuum tube on each channel, which can be driven to varying degrees for subtle harmonic enhancement or full-on distortion. Each tube is powered by an adjustable voltage control, allowing users to starve the tube to achieve more pronounced saturation effects.

Space Heater’s flexibility makes it ideal for a range of applications, from tracking individual instruments and warming digital tracks during mixing, to analog summing of stems and subgroups. Each of the eight channels features an independent heat control to adjust the amount of tube drive, as well as a level control to manage the overall signal. A dry/wet blend control is also included per channel, enabling precise parallel processing without the need for external routing.

In addition to the individual channel outputs, the Space Heater includes an internal stereo summing mixer, allowing users to mix multiple signals together and output them as a stereo pair, bypassing the need for an external summing mixer. This makes it particularly useful for engineers and producers looking to bring more cohesion and analog richness to their final mixes.

Connectivity is extensive: each channel is equipped with an XLR/TRS combo jack for balanced line-level inputs, a TRS insert jack for integrating external effects, and a dedicated TRS output for individual channel outputs. The summing mixer outputs via balanced XLRs, and a master stereo level control is provided to adjust the overall summed output.

With its heavy-duty 19″ rackmount chassis and professional-grade build quality, the Radial Engineering Space Heater is built to withstand the demands of both studio and live environments. Its ability to provide everything from subtle warmth to gritty overdrive, combined with versatile routing and summing options, makes it a powerful and creative tool for modern music production.
