The RME M-1620 Pro D is a high-performance 16-channel analogue-to-digital and 20-channel digital-to-analogue converter that brings together Dante®, MADI, and ADAT connectivity in a single 1U rackmount unit. It is engineered to offer seamless integration into complex studio, broadcast, and live sound environments where networked audio and versatile I/O configurations are essential.
Each of the 16 analogue line inputs and 16 analogue line outputs is individually switchable up to +24 dBu, ensuring precise level matching across a variety of professional equipment. The analogue outputs are fully DC-coupled, allowing accurate low-frequency reproduction and compatibility with devices requiring a true direct-coupled signal path.
The RME M-1620 Pro D features four ADAT optical inputs and four ADAT optical outputs for up to 32 channels of digital I/O at standard sampling rates. It includes both coaxial and optional optical MADI I/O, and dual Gigabit Ethernet ports supporting Dante® audio networking, enabling 64 channels of audio transmission and reception with stable, low-latency performance. Synchronisation is handled via Word Clock I/O, and RME’s SteadyClock FS technology ensures ultra-low jitter and precise timing across all digital domains.
A newly developed front panel design houses LED level meters, a bright display, and two independent headphone outputs, offering immediate access to monitoring and control functions directly from the hardware. The device also supports an optional redundant power supply input, enhancing reliability for mission-critical applications.
