With 16 balanced analogue summing channels and DB-25 connectivity, the API ASM164 features individual insert send/returns on each channel, global 0dB bypass, and continuously variable panning with centre detents. A 31-step detented level control ensures precise adjustments, while each channel can be independently assigned to two stereo mix buses – Mix-A and Mix-B – for flexible routing and parallel processing.
The internal signal path is driven by proprietary API 2510 input op-amps, classic 2520 op-amps, and custom output transformers, preserving the rich, punchy tone that defines API’s legacy. Balanced stereo external inputs and comprehensive rear-panel I/O expand integration options, while front-panel 4-segment LED meters and VU metering for stereo outputs provide clear visual feedback.
