The Fostex VC-8 is an ADAT/analogue converter designed to connect ADAT optical devices, such as the Fostex VR-800 digital multitrack recorder, to various analogue mixers. It enables high-quality integration with analogue mixers by using professional 20-bit AD/DA converters for accurate audio conversion.
To optimise system setups according to the number of analogue mixer output buses (2 BUS OUT, 4 BUS OUT, 8 BUS OUT), the Fostex VC-8 includes an INPUT MODE switch. This feature removes the need to reconnect cables during recording and playback.
The Fostex VC-8 can also function as an S/PDIF to analogue converter. When connected to a computer sound card with digital I/O, it provides clean recording and playback with minimal internal noise interference.
Features
-
A digital multitrack system can be configured by combining the Fostex VC-8’s ADAT optical and analogue input/output with analogue and digital mixers that support ADAT optical connections, such as the VR-800.
-
Thanks to its professional 20-bit AD/DA converters, the Fostex VC-8 works seamlessly with analogue mixers while maintaining the high-quality sound of digital recordings.
-
The INPUT MODE switch allows you to adapt the system to match the number of output buses on your analogue mixer, providing flexible routing without the need to reconnect cables.
-
The Fostex VC-8 also converts S/PDIF signals to analogue inputs/outputs and vice versa, making it easy to connect to a computer’s digital sound card for clean digital recording and playback.
-
The unit supports both internal sync (44.1 kHz) and OPTICAL/WORD sync (with a phase adjustment range of 32–48 kHz), allowing for compatibility with a wide range of digital equipment.
