The MXR Dual Fifteen Band EQ was designed to offer precise and flexible control over audio frequencies, catering to both studio and live sound reinforcement applications. Unlike conventional octave equalisers, the MXR Dual Fifteen Band EQ provided two channels of equalisation with frequency bands set two-thirds of an octave apart, allowing for greater accuracy in shaping sound. This design choice gave users finer control over the midrange, a crucial area in music production, by offering six bands of adjustment rather than the standard four.
Each channel of the MXR Dual Fifteen Band EQ was equipped with its own level control, ensuring independent adjustments for tailored sound shaping. With a ±12dB range on each band, the unit allowed for detailed tonal sculpting, whether for corrective or creative purposes. The equaliser was built to MXR’s high standards, featuring rugged construction suitable for demanding professional environments. Designed for seamless integration into any setup, it came in a standard 19-inch rackmount format and featured quarter-inch phone plug input and output connections.
Intended as a practical and intuitive tool, the MXR Dual Fifteen Band EQ provided an immediate and visible response to adjustments, making it easy to create precise frequency curves. Unlike parametric equalisers, where changes could be less predictable, the graphic layout of the Dual Fifteen allowed engineers and musicians to see and shape their sound with confidence. With an impressively low noise floor of better than -90dBm and a high slew rate, it delivered clean, high-fidelity performance without unwanted artefacts.
MXR positioned the Dual Fifteen as a solution to the toughest equalisation challenges, offering a combination of technical precision and user-friendly design. Whether in the studio or on stage, this equaliser proved to be an invaluable tool for refining sound, ensuring clarity, balance and control across the frequency spectrum.
