TUBE-TECH SMC 2B Multiband Compressor

The TUBE-TECH SMC 2B Stereo Multiband Compressor features three independent optical stereo compressors. It offers wide 3-band level control combined with individual compression for each band, delivering exceptional results on the main mix bus, drum buses, instrument groups, and individual tracks.

TUBE-TECH SMC 2B Multiband Compressor Details

The TUBE-TECH SMC 2B Stereo Multiband Compressor is a transformative audio tool that enhances colour and dynamics, often becoming a permanent part of the signal chain. Ideal for mixing and live sound, it adds unmatched musicality and quality.

The TUBE-TECH SMC 2B also excels at resolving problematic frequencies, functioning as a de-esser or controlling dynamic vocalists during recording. Widely regarded as one of the most creative and musical processors, it’s a favourite among sound engineers worldwide.

The TUBE-TECH SMC 2B Stereo Multiband Compressor provides precise control through variable crossover points and three independent optical stereo compressors. It divides the signal into low, mid, and high bands using 6 dB/octave crossover networks with variable frequencies:

  • Low/Mid Band: 60–1200 Hz
  • Mid/High Band: 1.2–6 kHz

The crossover networks ensure optimal summing of all bands, delivering a flat frequency response within ±0.25 dB when all band gain controls are set evenly. Each band offers independent control of Threshold, Ratio, Attack, Release, and Gain, with a gain reduction display for monitoring. Master levels are adjusted with Output Gain and Balance controls.

Design Features:

  • Balanced Input/Output: Fully floating transformers with static screens
  • Power Supply and Sidechain: Solid-state design
  • Stabilised DC Voltages: Except for the output stage

The TUBE-TECH SMC 2B combines flexibility and precision, making it a versatile and accurate tool for professional audio processing.
