The Stam MEQP-1A is a 1:1 replica of the iconic Pultec EQP-1A tube equalizer, enhanced with the mid-band section of the Pultec MEQ-5 for added versatility. This two-in-one unit allows for precise control over low, high, and mid frequencies, offering both boost and attenuation with the flip of a switch.
After retiring the Stam EQP-1A MK1 in 2019, Stam Audio spent three years developing custom Sowter input, inter-stage, and output transformers, as well as circuit improvements to recreate the vintage Pultec sound as closely as possible. These UK-made Sowter transformers, combined with three tubes including the 6X4 tube for its characteristic “sag,” deliver unmatched low-end timbre and authentic frequency response.
The Stam MEQP-1A is crafted with premium components, including three Carnhill inductors, NOS tubes, Corner Dubillier capacitors, and Allen Bradley carbon resistors, ensuring unparalleled accuracy and sonic quality. Each unit is hand-built in Chile with meticulous care and undergoes a 72-hour burn-in to guarantee reliable performance for years.
Optional upgrades include NOS tubes and stepped switches for added precision and vintage authenticity, making the Stam MEQP-1A one of the most accurate and versatile recreations of the legendary Pultec equalizer available today.
