Yamaha A4000 Professional Sampler Details

Ever since the introduction of sampling technology, most rackmount samplers have remained just that—samplers and nothing more. While improvements in sound quality and digital effects have occurred, the core concept hasn’t changed—until now. Introducing the revolutionary Yamaha A4000 Professional Sampler, a powerful tool that not only creates sounds but shapes them in ways previously unimaginable.

The Yamaha A4000 is equipped with 16 Multitimbral Parts and 64 Notes of Polyphony. It’s expandable up to 128 MB of RAM and can accommodate both an internal hard drive and an internal Zip® Drive simultaneously. This sampler is compatible with a wide range of formats, including AIFF and WAV, and comes bundled with special Sample and Parameter Editing Software for seamless editing.

The Yamaha A4000 is an advanced synthesis tool designed for versatile sound production. It features 16 Ultra Fat Filter types with powerful resonance, 96 Effects, a MIDI Syncable LFO with fully programmable waveforms, Loop Divide/Remix functions, Resampling, Direct-to-CD burning, and more. Its large LCD panel, robust real-time control knobs, and intuitive interface make it easy to create unique sounds.

The Yamaha A4000’s filter section offers 16 filter types with full parameter control. Standard low-pass, high-pass, and band-pass filters are complemented by unique filters such as band eliminate, peak, and dip filters. Multi-mode filters allow two independent filters to be assigned to a single sample for enhanced sound shaping.

The Yamaha A4000 is also a powerful digital multi-effect processor, featuring three effect blocks, each with 96 effect algorithms. Effects include reverbs, distortions, modulations, and delays, as well as unique effects like Auto Synth, Tech Modulation, and Digital Scratch. Effects can be applied during sampling, and with the Resampling function, you can further refine your sounds endlessly.

Perfect for dance music remixing, the Loop Divide and Remix functions slice, rearrange, and process loops creatively. The Remix function can generate new loops with effects like reverse, pitch, lo-fi, and more, while the Loop Divide assigns each slice to a different note, making it easy to remix on a MIDI keyboard.

The Yamaha A4000’s Resampling function allows easy matching of pitch and tempo. Change pitch without altering speed or adjust speed without changing pitch. The MIDI Syncable LFO and six Program LFO waveforms provide even more control, enabling advanced modulation and sound design.

Navigating the Yamaha A4000 is straightforward thanks to its intuitive interface. The bright 320 x 80 LCD panel and five control knobs allow for quick access and adjustments. The real-time MIDI Control Knobs can also control internal samples and external MIDI synthesizers.

With the Consecutive Sampling function, you can record multiple samples without repeated setup. Set the Record Type to “New+” and the A4000 will automatically create a new sample each time an audio signal is detected, making sampling fast and efficient.

The Yamaha A4000 offers impressive expansion options with a SCSI interface for connecting external hard drives or CD-ROMs. Internal sampling memory can be expanded to 128 MB using standard 72-pin SIMMs, and an optional I/O expansion board adds six individual audio outputs, plus optical and coaxial digital I/O.

Connect a CD-R or CD-RW drive directly to the SCSI port to back up your projects without needing a computer, allowing easy storage and creation of your own audio sampling CDs.

The Yamaha A4000 imports and exports AIFF and WAV files, and supports various sample formats, including Akai S1000/S3000, E-mu EIIIx, and Roland S760. It’s also compatible with other Yamaha samplers like the A3000 and SU700, providing access to a vast library of sounds.

Overall, the Yamaha A4000 Professional Sampler is a versatile, feature-rich tool that meets the demands of modern music production, offering unprecedented control and creative possibilities.
