Ibanez MSP1000

Ibanez MSP1000 Multi Signal Processor

The Ibanez MSP1000 is a versatile processor with a compressor/limiter, graphic EQ, and notch filter. It offers precise control, eliminating feedback and shaping sound without affecting quality.

Ibanez MSP1000 Multi Signal Processor Details

The Ibanez MSP1000 Multi-Signal Processor combines three powerful signal processors – compressor/limiter, graphic equalizer, and notch filter – into a single rack space unit. These sections can function independently or in series without the need for patch cords, making it an incredibly versatile processor.

The Graphic Equalizer section includes a 2/3 octave EQ with 15 band filters spanning 25Hz to 16KHz. The boost and cut range from +/- 6dB for subtle adjustments to +/- 12dB for more dramatic control. The EQ circuit operates independently, and LEDs display both status and overload warnings.

The Compressor/Limiter section uses RMS detection and a soft-knee limiter for smooth, natural compression. The compression ratio is fully adjustable from 1:1 to infinity, while the threshold can be set between -40dBm and +10dBm. Bar LEDs show gain reduction, and the output control offers up to a 20dB boost.

The two-band notch filter allows up to 30dB of cut at very narrow or high-Q frequencies. This targeted filtering helps eliminate unwanted frequencies, such as feedback, without impacting the surrounding sound. It’s especially useful for maintaining sound quality while controlling feedback issues.

Graphic Equalizer Section
The 2/3 octave graphic EQ features 15 band filters covering 25Hz to 16KHz, with boost and cut ranging from ±6dB for subtle tweaks to ±12dB for more significant adjustments. The EQ circuit can be switched independently, with LEDs indicating status and overload.

On Stage Monitor Mixing
The Ibanez MSP1000 supports up to 8 monitor mixes, allowing sound shaping through its compressor/limiter, graphic EQ, and notch filters. This setup is space-efficient, cost-effective, and ensures high-quality sound.

Fixed Installations (Sound Reinforcement)
For permanent sound systems, the Ibanez MSP1000 can be used either in individual sections or in series. It effectively reduces feedback, shapes EQ, and applies compression, making it flexible for various setups.

Recording (Studio or Remote)
As a preamp or processor, the Ibanez MSP1000 provides compression for level control, EQ for tonal shaping, and notch filters to eliminate resonance or ringing tones, making it useful for both studio and remote recording.

Instrument Preamp
The Ibanez MSP1000 excels as a preamp for guitars, bass, and keyboards, with a maximum output of +20dBm. Bass players benefit from level smoothing, guitarists from enhanced sustain and feedback control, and synth players from limiter protection and precise tonal control via the graphic EQ.

Notch Filter Section
The two-band notch filter cuts up to 30dB at selected frequencies, targeting narrow bands with high “Q.” This effectively removes unwanted frequencies, like feedback, while preserving the surrounding sound.

Acoustic Instruments
The Ibanez MSP1000 is perfect for acoustic players dealing with feedback. The notch filters eliminate feedback, while the graphic EQ provides tonal control. Compression smooths out volume inconsistencies, and brass or woodwind players can also benefit from its compression and EQ capabilities.

A key feature of the Ibanez MSP1000 is that its three sections are internally connected by default. This means that when you plug into the compressor input, you can take an output signal from the notch filter section, effectively connecting all three units in series without needing patch cords. If you prefer to use each section separately, simply connect through the input and output jacks for the specific section you want to use.
