CVPA PlateMic Stereo Plate Reverb Details

Introducing the all-new CVPA PlateMic: a compact analogue stereo plate reverb with low noise class-A JFET/BJT preamps and transformer-balanced output, now available for pre-order!

Experience the lush and dynamic sound of real analogue plate reverb in ways not possible with traditional plates. The CVPA PlateMic features the unique ability to sing or play directly to the plate, creating the most dream-like reverb sound you’ve ever heard!

The CVPA PlateMic adds extra stereo dimension, depth, and dynamics to your mix that VSTs and digital units can’t match. It offers a wide range of reverb decay time adjustments, from a brief 1-second “small room” reverb to a massively long 6 seconds (Brass plate only), making it a creative analogue substitute for digital delay.

The CVPA PlateMic could become the centrepiece of your studio and a major draw for clients. Its impressively beautiful sound will inspire you to mix and experiment, unlocking new ways to maximize its incredible potential!

The PlateMic is incredibly versatile and can be used in a wide variety of ways:

  • As a wet/dry direct reverb using the speaker pole mount with a “dry” microphone in front.
  • As a full-wet direct reverb microphone using the speaker pole mount (great for dreamy background vocals).
  • As a room microphone sitting on the floor (great for drums).
  • As a traditional post-production reverb placed in front of your studio monitors as the drivers.
  • As a traditional post-production reverb placed in an isolated vocal booth fed with small studio monitors.
  • As a “quick and dirty” reverb using headphones placed on the unit acting as drivers (this sounds surprisingly good!).

Advanced Damper System features:

  • Non-resonant damper strips (facing the plate) clear up mid-range muddiness for more clarity.
  • Provides frequency-balanced decay time across the entire damper operation range.
  • Sounds rich and full, even at low decay times!
  • Thick and tough all-aluminium frame.
  • Incredibly smooth silicone-damped operation on precision linear rail & bushings.

A wide selection of plate material available to include:

  • Brass (free) – 1s – 6s @ 500hz – Longest high freq. decay time – Medium resonance
  • Nickel (+$800USD) – 1s – 4.5s @ 500hz – Medium high freq. decay time – Medium-low resonance
  • Cold Rolled Steel (free) – 1s – 4.5s @ 500hz – Medium high freq. decay time – High resonance

Build Quality 100%
Usefullness 100%
Mojo/Funk 100%
Reliability 100%

Great unit. Durable (40 years old and still going unlike the imported stuff being offered today). I own several different delays (I.e. ADA, Lexicon, and multi effect units) and this thing matches up to the best of them. Recommended!
