Q-Code Recognition
The Fostex D-5 recognises the CD Q-Code during digital signal transfer from CD through its optical input. Then, it precisely records S-IDs, according to the track number and index information of the CD Q-Code. even if there is a break in the middle of a song, or if there isn’t a non-recorded section between two songs, because the S-IDs are recorded correctly, you can locate to the Start ID (beginning of song) precisely. Plus, the Fostex D-5 does not contain a copy ID function. All signals are recorded copy-free.

Highly Reliable Sendust Head
The Fostex D-5 employs a specially processed sendust head with improved wear characteristics, as well as a stable tape path. The robust D-5 will withstand the rigorous use in a professional studio environment with high reliability.

A/D & D/A Converters with Quality Sound
Using a 1-bit wide range linear A/D converter and a high-speed pulse flow 1-bit D/A converter, the Fostex D-5 has superior sound and minimal conversion error. Your assurance that the Fostex D-5 is a high-quality recorder/reproducer. Perfect for mastering.

Dual Function Compatibility
In the case of the Fostex Hard Disk Recorders – Model DMT-8 Digital Multitracker and Model D-80 Rack Mount Hard Disk Recorder with removable hard drive and detachable control panel – the Fostex D-5 serves a dual function. First, as the digital mixdown recorder; second, as the archive machine for backing up data. It’s an ideal combination.

Clean Control Clock Circuit
The D-5 system control clock runs independent of the analogue and digital circuits. As a result, a clean clock signal is generated – offering the ultimate in signal-to-noise ratio and low distortion.

Build Quality 100%
Usefullness 100%
Mojo/Funk 100%
Reliability 100%

Great unit. Durable (40 years old and still going unlike the imported stuff being offered today). I own several different delays (I.e. ADA, Lexicon, and multi effect units) and this thing matches up to the best of them. Recommended!
