Sony K-1203 Super Bit Mapping Processor

The Sony K-1203 Super Bit Mapping Processor was a digital processing unit that was unique to Sony, and it enabled conversion of higher than 16-bit signals to 16-bit without audible loss.

Sony K-1203 Super Bit Mapping Processor Details

Sony Super Bit Mapping is a processing technique for converting digital audio data of more than 16 bits into 16-bit output data using the threshold of hearing of the human ear and a noise shaping technique.

Since the characteristics of the human ear are applied as the decoder, this technique enables high quality sound to be reproduced using conventional 16-bit media such as CDs without the need to add an additional decoder at the playback end.

The Sony K- 1203 Super Bit Mapping Processor Unit makes use of this technology and is designed with the utmost regard to ease and convenience of use in recording studios.

Mojo/Funk 100%
Reliability 100%

Great unit. Durable (40 years old and still going unlike the imported stuff being offered today). I own several different delays (I.e. ADA, Lexicon, and multi effect units) and this thing matches up to the best of them. Recommended!
