The Roland E-660 boasts versatile functionality as a two-channel, four-band fully parametric digital equaliser. It offers flexible configurations, serving as a single-channel eight-band parametric, a two-channel four-band parametric, or a two-channel four-band bandpass filter.

While each channel’s filters can be adjusted independently, they can also be synchronised to apply changes simultaneously, ensuring precise stereo phase coherence for mastering or monitoring tasks.

With each of its eight filters capable of delivering up to 12 dB of boost or cut, the Roland E-660 covers a wide bandwidth spanning from 1/6 octave to over three and a half octaves. This is achieved through four overlapping ranges: 30 to 960 Hz, 200 to 6400 Hz, 500 to 16000 Hz, and 800 to 20000 Hz.

Additionally, two of the filters (the highest and lowest) can function as shelving filters. Control is intuitive, with parameters adjustable via front panel controls or direct input from the numeric keypad. The resulting equalisation curve can be conveniently displayed on the LCD screen, enhancing usability.

Furthermore, each channel offers delay capabilities of up to 500 milliseconds, while individual filter bands can be delayed by up to 99 milliseconds, enabling creative effects generation or correction of acoustic anomalies in source material.

The Roland E-660 supports seamless workflow management with 99 user memories for saving and recalling settings, facilitated by an internal battery that maintains memory integrity during power cycles.

Featuring both analogue and digital inputs and outputs, the E-660 accommodates various connectivity preferences. Analog signals can be connected via XLR or 1/4″ connectors, while 44.1 or 48 kHz digital signals are supported through coaxial RCA or Lightpipe connectors. Additionally, MIDI compatibility adds further versatility to this Roland unit.

  • The Roland E-660 adopts the 16-bit AID, 18-bit equivalent D/A conversion system and 28-bit parallel arithmetic DSP (digital signal processor) LSI, to allow a dynamic range of 94 dB and total harmonic distortion of under 0.015%.
  • Featuring Digital Input and Output (Coaxial/Optical) sockets, the E—S60 can be set up with a DAT (digital audio tape recorder) or CD player. Sampling frequency of 48 or 44.1kHz is automatically selected depending on the type of device connected to the Digital In socket.
  • Up to 99 different effect settings can be written into memory.
  • Featuring MIDI connectors, the effect programs on the E—660 can be changed by Program Change messages sent from an external MIDI device.

Great unit. Durable (40 years old and still going unlike the imported stuff being offered today). I own several different delays (I.e. ADA, Lexicon, and multi effect units) and this thing matches up to the best of them. Recommended!
