The Sony MU-D100, released in 1990, is a professional-grade stereo cassette deck featuring a robust mechanism and convenient editing functions. The mechanism includes a heavy-duty, long-lasting design specially developed for professional use. The direct drive system utilises a three-motor configuration to maintain stable tape running, with exceptional durability and stability for tough conditions.
This Sony MU-D100 cassette deck also features Dolby HX pro, which enhances high-frequency characteristics during recording and results in clearer sound quality. In addition, the Dolby NR B/C noise reduction system is included.
An hour meter is included, displaying the total operating time up to 10,000 hours and indicating when maintenance is required for the head portion. The pitch control feature allows for flexible tape speed control during playback, ranging from +200% to -15%.
The deck is equipped with several user-friendly functions, such as the Automatic Music Sensor (AMS) function for quickly finding the start of a song or the next track, a music scan function that plays only the beginning of each song, and a queue function for fast-forwarding and rewinding while listening to the sound.
The automatic rewind feature automatically rewinds the tape when it reaches the end, while the automatic tape selector sets the tape position automatically upon cassette insertion. The cassette deck also includes a linear electronic counter with a minute electronic display using an FL tube.
The Sony MU-D100 features both unbalanced RCA as well as fully balanced XLR connectors for both inputs and outputs, as well as a headphone output on the front panel.
Other advanced features of the Sony MU-D100 include a synchro start terminal, enabling automatic repeat play, and the possibility of automatic relay play when two or more Sony MU-D100s are connected.
